Unisex Hakamas by Lee-Lah: Street Style

Lee-Lah is a new brand created by design enthusiast Rin, who seeks out to create clothing that will work no matter what you identify as gender-wise. The unisex products can also be said to be accommodating to almost any body type as well. All you need is a little imagination and know-how. The brand calls it “Gender-Fluid” clothing.

Rin recently started a kickstarter whereby 10% of pre-orders and donations will go to the LGBTQ center in Durham NC. You can also learn what happens to the money and what you can expect in production when she meets certain goals in fundraising. More about the featured outfit. You already know that I love things inspired or founded in other cultures if not JRPGs. In this look, I styled the “Lazy Samurai” (I call them street style hakamas) to be pretty close to what they look like.

This can also go down as another sensible way to wear black in the summer. These pants are designed with a lot of room. That means they don’t cling to you and you won’t sweat in or through them as much. To make it fashionable I added a belt around the waist. Two belts actually, one to hold the pants up and one to add details. The other belt is actually a ribbon I bought at Walmart, frugal style.

You’ve seen me use this featured light robe/jacket on Instagram before in a similar wardrobe theme, here. It fits really well this time to carry the look of an off duty samurai on the street (kinda). Just as a modern touch I finished the look with a statement necklace and a pair of vans.

What do you think about the overall look?
