Some days you have no time to choose the best outfit to be stylish and warm. Some days, all you can do is find your best look and go. You don’t have to stress when you have an overcoat in your wardrobe.
Sometimes it’s easiest to find something to where by thinking of fashion in a form-follows-function way. An overcoat is purposed to do just what its name suggests. It goes over your outfit.
In the past few posts, I’ve shared ideas on how to put together looks for the fall and winter weather. Just putting on an overcoat is the easiest suggestion I can offer outside of saying don’t go outside. It’s as simple as just putting on what you know works and before you go outside just put on the overcoat.
This featured look is a good example of just putting on something that always works. I paired a dual pane plaid shirt in classic navy, red and green, paired with distressed jeans from HM and a pair of brown ombre chelsea boots by Tony Walker. To finish, I just threw on my old tweed overcoat. You may notice that it looks like the overcoat has broad shoulders. Broad or padded shoulders used to be a staple design for overcoats and peacoats, however, mine looks this way because I’m wearing a casual dress jacket underneath. Modern overcoats aren’t made with padded shoulders.
