MET GALA 2016

MY FAVORITE LOOKS AT THE 2016 MET GALA WITH THE POLLY MAGOO VIBES

To all my fellow eclectic men, to follow the theme or to not follow the Met Gala theme is the question. I guess I’m going with NOT REALLY BUT KINDA following the theme. Here are my favorite three looks from this year’s fashion super event.

Without an order of favor, let’s start with Jaden Smith in this Louis Vuitton suit. If there was a polished way to do formal wear in an urban street way, Jaden has done it well. Look closely at the collarless suit with white trimming, hemmed pants and the amazing Louboutin shoes. UGH I LOVE IT-you hear me. While the look itself does not read Man Vs Machine it definitely speaks to a fashion forward mind. Catch the Jaden touch with the t-shirt under the suit jacket.

Next favorite is Nick Jonas’ ensemble. It’s simple I know but very well executed. This Top Man custom suit features the male curves just right. That’s my favorite part. When it comes to guys who work tutor those have a little more muscles to show, all the physical progress gets lost in the basic box cut of suit or tux. I am mostly proud of Nick Jonas for choosing this cut, this color.

The other absolute favorite look is worn by race care driver, Lewis Hamilton. It’s not that different from Nick’s suit but the attention falls on the fabric and pattern. I’ll admit that the double breasted suit is a great idea for an outstanding suit on men at this time at any event. In addition, the beautiful synthetic houndstooth suit is very applaudable. For the theme sake, its somewhere in the key with the shininess but its on point when speaking to the potential of men’s looks on the red carpet.

Some mentions are due to Will.I.Am and Zayn Malik. Yeah Yeah the media loved Zayn’s Versace Jax from Mortal Kombat look. I liked it too but the biggest flaw for me is that the look isn’t strong without Gigi standing next to him. It just looks like metal plates added to a standard suit. He’s wearing armor they whispered. That’s cool but again its not great or complete alone.

Will.I.Am, well I think it needs more something.  The full face visor goes with the theme a bit. I like the floral jacket sleeves. However, the story of it all doesn’t feel or look finished if you catch my vibe.

What are your thoughts?

By the way, doesnt this put you in the mind of the 1966 film, “Who Are You Polly Magoo?” Check it out and you’ll see what I mean.
