I’ve always loved the look of men’s high waist pants. It has always been an article of clothing that gave a classy look to anything its paired with.
If you’re a short guy like me, high waist pants are one of the hidden gems to elongate your legs, visually.
In this featured this look, I bought these pants from my favorite vintage store, Father and Sons Antiques in Raleigh, NC. I believe these pants are a size 36 in the waist, I wear a 29. In my mind I wasn’t going to wear them until I got them taken in or learned to do it myself. I didn’t want to wait. I also remember seeing a photo on the web of a high waist look with rope tied around the waist. I thought, shoot, I can just do that and give the look without the alterations. Well, in the words of MC Debra, “IT WAS DONE!”
I wanted to present the idea of creating a look that lets you adjust to the fall day changes. You know, cold in the morning warm in midday, and cool again at night. So I paired a scarf by Su Kyung Sa, drapped around my shoulders and tucked the tails into my pants with a tank and statement necklace underneath for the southern mid-day temperatures. I grabbed a nice rust colored belt to match my light rust slip-on loafers and here you have a complete 60s regal inspired look to bring in the fall.
I encourage you to remember to always have a jacket on hand during the fall. Thats why I have this nice casual fuschia or purple racer jacket. Oh yeah, while not like the 60s style I found a modern pair of green high waist pants, already have them ordered.
You should try it.
