Giacca Sport

Have You Ever Heard of Giacca Sport?

Again with the 90s revival in affect its no wonder why quietly we see these windbreakers creeping up in street fashion. However, its proving to be kind of tough to track the origins of these types of jackets.

Have you ever heard of the brand called Giacca Sport?

I picked up this jacket in one of my favorite vintage shops. By looking at the tag I found that it’s by Giacca Sport but where are they now.

light jacket, windbreaker

We know the most popular brands that championed the world of athletic wear, jogging suits, windbreakers and the like such as Nike, Adidas, Reebok etc. Yet, it is tough to find the “other” guys who were doing exceptional and rare things in the  game of fashion.

It’s understandable that some brands just go under as certain things become mainstream like windbreakers. Because of over saturation, some brands just go unnoticed and underperform. I’m feeling like Giacca Sport may have been one of those brands.

What I do know is that Giacca Sport made ladies outerwear. From what i’ve googled the years range between 1965 and my guess is up until the 90s. I’ve not been able trace who started the brand though. I’ve only manage to find more remnants of product on sites like Etsy and Ebay.

The point of the matter is that this is why vintage shopping is so amazing.

Good vintage comes down to high quality items that you find for cheap and finding things that are just hard to find.

If you are one of those people who always holler about wanting to look different and wanting something no-one else has and you don’t vintage shop…well I’m glad you read my blog posts.

In the post before this one , I link drop a few stores that sell very now and stylish light jackets. The quality is very nice and all the items featured will serve you well when updating your closet. However, the wardrobe gem can be found from a time when the fashion industry was in excess and feeling its self. Thats what I call the fashion within the last 50 years.

Brands like Giacca Sport could offer, big prints and lots of colors and fashion as art at an affordable price. The sky was the limit. (Literally the limit since it is now a contributor to the negative affects on the environments.) Now mainstream fashion is fast fashion. If you aren’t as fashion say you will buy only whats hot now.

Never-the-less, if you are already in the vintage buzz of life, tell me about some of the brands that you have in your closet that you have tried to find but failed.
